Our story

About

Café 92 degrés began with a simple, stubborn idea: that a neighbourhood deserves a place where the coffee is made properly, and where you can stay a while. Maria Grajales, Claudia Vega and Reda Wahba opened it at 6703 Sherbrooke Street West, in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. It is open seven days a week.

Origen y temperatura

A name that is a measurement

Ninety-two degrees is the temperature at which the water meets the grounds. One degree more and the extraction burns; one degree less and it holds back. Naming the café after that number was a public commitment to the one thing that is not negotiable here. Everything else — the menu, the hours, the music — can change. Not that.

Sabor latino

A Latin flavour, in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

The kitchen and the grocery shelf come from Mexico. Molletes and quesadillas leave the counter next to the croissants; the hot chocolate is Mexican, the agua de Jamaica is made here, and the shelves carry salsas, tostadas and drinking chocolate. This mix is not a decorative theme: it is what the founders know how to cook, served in a neighbourhood that is itself made of several origins.

El grano

The bean

Garibaldi, Colombia, Costa Rica, and a Swiss Water decaf. The same beans that go through the machine are sold by the bag on site, in 454 g or by the kilo. Leaving with what you have just been drinking seems to us the least we can do.

Nuestra comunidad

A counter for the neighbourhood

The café has a community side: makers from the neighbourhood show and sell their work here. The selection changes from month to month, and the page devoted to them follows that rhythm.
